Spyro Reignited Trilogy officially announced, watch the trailer here

TheSpyro Reignited Trilogyhas been officially announced. It's coming to PS4 and Xbox One in September, with a rumoured Switch release coming later. Along with the announcement, aSpyro Reignited Trilogy trailer has been released.

That means that the post on Reddit which showed parts of the logo and claimed the trailer would be released today was right. Well done.

You can watch this trailer below.

TheSpyro Reignited Trilogy trailer is called the 'All Scaled up Reveal Trailer' and describes the remastered collection as follows.

Spyro's back and he's all scaled up! Same sick burns, same smoldering attitude, now all scaled up in stunning HD. Spyro is bringing the heat like never before in the Spyro Reignited Trilogy game collection.

Rekindle the fire with the original three games, Spyro the Dragon, Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage! and Spyro: Year of the Dragon.

Explore the expansive realms, re-encounter the fiery personalities and relive the adventure in fully remastered glory. Because when there's a realm that needs saving, there's only one dragon to call.

Spyro Reignited TrilogyTrailer

Along with the release of the trailer, a post on the PlayStation Blog by Toys for Bob Design Director Toby Schadt reveals more details about the game.

Schadt writes that Toys for Bob has been inspired bySpyro since the first game was released.

Back in 1998, the very first Spyro the Dragon was an inspiration to us. The level design, the controls, the art style, the humor, the music, the sense of discovery – it was groundbreaking in so many ways.

There's no getting around the fact that the feisty purple dragon is one of the most important and influential heroes in 3D platformer history

Toys for Bob has some experience withSpyro having used him in someSkylanders titles. Schadt writes that it's a real honour for Toys for Bob to work on theSpyro Reignited Trilogy.

He also mentions how much of a motivating factor the love fans have forSpyrois.

Remaking a Classic Game

Unlike creating a new game, remaking one is an entirely different process. Schadt writes that "The real challenge lies in how to remaster a beloved classic in such a way that is true to the spirit and feel of the original while also maximizing fidelity and integrating quality-of-life improvements that modern players expect."

RemakingSpyro must have proved a significant challenge in that regard.Spyrowas first released in 1998 and games have changed significantly since then.

However, Schadt says that Toys for Bob wanted to make everything feel just as it did originally.

In the interest of getting the feel right, one of the first things we agreed upon internally was that Spyro's original movement metrics — speeds and accelerations for walking, running, jumping, charging, gliding, flying, swimming, hovering, and more – should be matched as closely as possible.

Toys for Bob also worked hard to ensure that the levels and worlds in Spyro Reignited Trilogy"would require the dimensions and collision details of the world geometry to come very close to matching the originals." That way, the gameplay would feel very similar.

Schadt was keen to point out that the worlds in the remaster "utilize considerably more polygons than their 1998 counterparts."

Spyro'sBack

One of the most incredible tools Toys for Bob used when developing theSpyro Reignited Trilogy is Spyroscope.

This tool was developed in-house at Toys for Bob and can extract data from the original games for developers to use in the remaster. Schadt describes Spyroscope as something magical.

"This internally developed tool sends fairies into the original games who convert game details into a format that designers can easily interpret, allowing for extremely accurate game object placement and motion.

"Ultimately, we were also able to leverage many of the original assets such as level models, level collision, animated objects, character models, music, game text, and game sounds through a combination of other in-house tools and a few payments to Moneybags."

It's obvious a lot of care and dedication has gone into creating theSpyro Reignited Trilogy and we look forward to more updates in the future.

TheSpyro Reignited Trilogy will be available for PS4 and Xbox One on September 21, 2018.

Thanks to Amazon Mexico,Spyro Reignited Trilogy has been revealed. This is probably not how the game was supposed to be announced, but the cat dragon's out of the bag now. And since it's been leaked, we have some screenshots for you all to check out.

Some of these Spyro Reignited Trilogy screenshots show direct comparisons between the original games and the remaster. Others are just images from the remaster and boy do they look gorgeous.

The Amazon Mexico listing has theSpyro Reignited Trilogy launching for PS4 only, though it's likely not a timed exclusive as Amazon India has it listed on Xbox One.

It also includes the following description of features;

  • All 3 original Spyro games fully remastered in HD
  • Includes Spyro the Dragon, Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage! and Spyro: Year of the Dragon
  • 100+ levels, remastered with breathtaking graphical updates and improved gameplay controls

In the image above you can see whatSpyro looks like in theSpyro Reignited Trilogy and the graphical style of the remaster in general. The cartoony quality of the originals has been retained and obviously upgraded and improved thanks to the power of current-generation consoles. Or at least PS4.

In the comparison screenshots, below, you can see how the original games have been faithfully recreated while looking modern and slick.

It's being reported that people who own theCrash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy on PS4 will be able to view a trailer for theSpyro Reignited Trilogy in-game on April 9.

Spyro Reignited Trilogy…WOW!

The rumour we reported on earlier, from Reddit, looks like it's true as the logo that's now been leaked matches that posted to Reddit. Whether or not the trailer will be released tomorrow as that rumour claimed remains to be seen.

Rumour – Check out this Spyro Trilogy Remaster Logo, the Trailer is coming tomorrow

Rumour – Check out this Spyro Trilogy Remaster Logo, the Trailer is coming tomorrow

Take this one with a grain of salt, but a user on Reddit is claiming to have received the logo for theSpyro Trilogy Remaster. The same user is claiming that aSpyro Remaster Trilogytrailer will be released tomorrow.

The user, bigpuffy, has posted a small section of the logo as well as providing some additional information.

Spyro Trilogy RemasterTrailer

According to bigpuffy, the name of theSpyro Trilogy Remaster is fire themed. He also suggested that the name is similar in form toCrash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy.

While theSpyro subreddit was highly sceptical of his claims, bigpuffy managed to turn them around.

He has also claimed that theSpyro Trilogy Remaster trailer will be released tomorrow. When asked who the developer of the remaster is, bigpuffy was unable to say. Not because he was prevented, but because he claimed he didn't know.

His post in the subreddit was initially deleted by mods as it was suspected of being fake, but after discussions with mods (in which he may have provided proof) and him posting a part of the logo, his post was reinstated.

This is the image he posted which is purported to be a part of the logo. He also posted the 'O' which can be seen below.

Users in the subreddit have compared this 'S' with others from previousSpyro games. They were satisfied that it wasn't from any of them and so believed that it may be legitimate.

Bigpuffy claims he can not reveal the full logo or the game's name as it would compromise the company he works for. Looking through his Reddit history suggests that he is a graphic designer or someone who works with video editing, which may be why he has access to the logo, game name and knows that a trailer is coming out tomorrow.

It's certainly not outside the realms of possibility for this to be real, especially considering the otherSpyrorelated teasers that have gone on in the last few days.

I think the Reddit community is right to be sceptical of this unsubstantiated claims, but at the same time, bigpuffy does present some credible information.

If there is aSpyro Trilogy Remaster trailer released tomorrow then bigpuffy will be proven right. If not, then he's just another in a long line of pranksters playing onSpyro fans.

Overwatch Retribution lets players experience the Blackwatch mission in Venice

Overwatch Retribution lets players experience the Blackwatch mission in Venice

Well, folks, the information we had was right. The second of two PvE missions available inOverwatch's next event isOverwatchRetribution and it's set in Venice.

The mission stars McCree, Reaper, Moira (in a fancy Blackwatch skin) and Genji.

The announcement was made on Twitter via theOverwatch account.

Additional information was provided by Jeff Kaplan at theOverwatchLeague. He announced that as part ofOverwatchRetribution a new map would be added to the PvP rotation.

The map, Rialto, is a payload map and is whereOverwatchRetribution takes place. However, it will not be available right away and will instead be put on the PTR first.

OverwatchRetribution

This limited time event will run alongside the King's Row Uprising event but will be a very different mission indeed.

In the trailer below, we hear Reaper and Soldier 76 discussing the Venice mission. Soldier 76 wants to know exactly what happened and Reaper is being a little cagey.

The trailer shows Reaper, Moira, Genji and McCree in their Blackwatch skins (YAY MOIRA!) and it shows them going up against Talon.

The different enemy types look to echo theOverwatch hero's, but they're not direct copies like the Omnic versions of Bastion and Orisa. There is a female assassin who appears to have a similar move set to Genji but has two blades.

The trailer also shows a large enemy wielding two chain guns and a sniper. It certainly looks intense and we can't wait to play it.

Jeff Kaplan also advised thatOverwatchRetribution will be available to play in an all-heroes mode, so players won't have to stick to just the four characters in the trailer.

All ofOverwatch's social media accounts have been updated for the event and all feature Blackwatch imagery.

The limited time event will run from April 10 through to April 30. It will include both King's Row Uprising andOverwatch Retribution along with a host of new cosmetics.

All of the old cosmetics from last year's event will be able to be earned and purchased with in-game gold for a reduced price.

What do you think of the new mission?

Below is Blizzard's description ofOverwatchRetribution.

Travel eight years into the past and join Blackwatch as they seek to capture a high-ranking member of the Talon organization.

Fight in the streets of Venice as Genji, Moira, McCree, or Reyes (later known as Reaper) to complete the mission and unlock pieces of the past with over 100 items from last year and 60 new ones—including highlight intros, emotes, sprays, and more.

These archives are yours to explore starting April 10.

Rumour – The Division developer Massive Entertainment working on Battle Royale game

Rumour – The Division developer Massive Entertainment working on Battle Royale game

A rumour has surfaced today claiming that Ubisoft has commissioned a Massive Entertainment Battle Royale game. Massive, the developer ofThe Division is based in Malmö, Sweden and is currently working onThe Division 2.

In addition to the sequel, Massive is also working on updating and adding content toThe Division as well as developing a game based on James Cameron'sAvatar.

Massive Entertainment Battle Royale Game

Even with all of the current development occurring, an anonymous source has told GameReactor that Ubisoft has requested a Massive Entertainment Battle Royal game.

Apparently, Ubisoft gave Massive this task back in January in response to the overwhelming popularity of both Epic'sFortnite andPUBG.

The source also claimed that Massive was keen to jump on board and told Ubisoft that it could put something together really quickly. Given thatThe Division already uses a 3rd-person cover shooter mechanic, it seems likely that Massive could use that to create something suitable.

Whether or not this rumour is true remains to be seen.

What do you think about aThe Divisionflavoured Battle Royale game?

The Spyro Trilogy Remaster teasing continues

The Spyro Trilogy Remaster teasing continues

There's no end in sight for the teasing of theSpyro Trilogy Remaster. First came the report that theSpyro Trilogy Remaster was going to be announced in March.

That didn't happen.

And more recently, some journalists received strange, scaly purple eggs from someone named Falcon McBob.

In investigating these eggs, it was discovered that the name belonged to a Twitter account with the handle @SpyroTheDragon. Here's where it gets even more interesting.

Spyro Trilogy Remaster

Falcon McBob initially followed no other accounts, but yesterday it started to follow the officialCrash Bandicootaccount. Stranger still, theCrash Bandicootaccount followed Falcon McBob back.

The officialCrashaccont only follows 15 others including Bobby Kotick, Eric Hirshberg, Twitch, PlayStation and Skylanders.

We're not done yet though, because today Falcon McBob tweeted to theCrashaccount. The tweet is below.

As you can see, the image is ofCrash Bandicoot and reflected in his eyes is the image ofSpyro.Aside from currently being owned by Activision,SpyroandCrashshare a history.

A secret demo forSpyro the Dragon was included inCrash Bandicoot 3: Warped on PlayStation 1. To access the demo, players needed to press Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, Square at the title screen.

With the release of theCrash N. Sane Trilogy, data miners discovered secretSpyro the Dragon code hidden in the game. So far nobody has been able to access the code, but the fact that it's even in there is pretty telling.

Let's hope theSpyro Trilogy Remaster gets an official announcement soon.

Report – Microsoft has exclusive marketing rights to Borderlands 3, Anthem and more

Report – Microsoft has exclusive marketing rights to Borderlands 3, Anthem and more

A report from Rectify Gaming is claiming that Microsoft holds the marketing rights to a number of upcoming high profile games.

Sources close to Microsoft have apparently told Rectify Gaming that Microsoft marketing rights for the following games have been issued;

  • Borderlands 3
  • Cyberpunk 2077
  • Splinter Cell
  • Battlefield V
  • Madden
  • Anthem

It's also been claimed that Microsoft marketing will extend toShadow of the Tomb Raider andThe Division 2.

Microsoft Marketing Rights

Microsoft marketing these titles, if true, is a big win for Xbox One. By holding the marketing rights, Microsoft will be able to advertise and market these titles with Xbox One and Microsoft branding.

This means that any and all advertising for these games will feature the Xbox One branding and will make players associate the console and the game.

Microsoft has previously had marketing rights forCall of Duty and more recentlyAssassin's Creed Origins.

Recitfy Gaming has a history of reporting information from anonymous sources that have turned out to be true; including the name of the Xbox One X.

For now, this remains unconfirmed, but if it does turn out to be true, 2018 could be a bumper year for Microsoft and Xbox One.

Big Names & Big Games

The list of titles that Rectify Gaming is claiming that Microsoft marketing rights belong to is staggering.

Borderlands 3is the long-awaited sequel to the hugely popular franchise and has been in development for some time.Borderlands has a die-hard fan-base and if Microsoft marketing it means additional content, special features and the like, fans may well flock to the Xbox One version.

Cyberpunk 2077 is the next game fromWitcher 3developer CD Projekt Red.The Witcher 3 was such a sensational smash hit, that any information aboutCyberpunk 2077 is feverishly sought after. Again, having Microsoft marketing this game is a real win for Xbox.

Battlefield was, for many years, marketed by PlayStation and Sony, however withCall of Duty switching from Xbox to PlayStation, it makes sense forBattlefield Vto do the same.

As forAnthem,it is EA and BioWare's big play for the same space thatDestinyandThe Division occupy.Destiny is and always has been marketed by Sony and PlayStation. Having Microsoft marketing attached toAnthem makes sense for both EA and Microsoft.

It works as a way to create a point of difference and perhaps give players a reason to playAnthem in addition to, or instead ofDestiny.

Until any of this is confirmed by Microsoft I would take it with a grain of salt. However, many of these games would make sense to be marketed by Microsoft, especially when you consider the competing games of the same genres that PlayStation currently markets.

If and when we learn more, we'll be sure to report it.
